Project Background

Last year, a domestic surgical robot company approached us to machine core stainless steel parts for their robot end-effectors. The customer required:

  • Material: 316L medical-grade stainless steel
  • Tolerance: ±0.005mm
  • Traceability: Complete material certifications and traceability records, as required by the medical industry.

Customer's Challenges

The parts were small yet had a complex structure with fine holes and grooves requiring high positional accuracy. The material (316L stainless steel) also posed challenges due to tool adhesion. The previous supplier was unable to meet the required tolerances and surface roughness.

Our Solution

Our engineering team designed a specialized process:

  1. Tool selection: We used carbide tools optimized for machining stainless steel.
  2. Cutting parameters: Optimized to avoid tool adhesion.
  3. 3D measurements: For each dimension to guarantee positional accuracy.

The parts were processed in our dedicated medical component area. After machining, we conducted cleaning and passivation to ensure compliance with medical industry standards. We sourced all materials from certified steel mills, providing complete material certifications and traceability.
