Swords Precision specializes in manufacturing of robust components via a process called forging, which is usable for multiple industries. For hadging involves metal, and heating it till the temperature becomes red hot. After the metal has been heated, we hammer it into the desired shape. This is important in producing components which are significantly stronger than components produced using another method. The metal then gets heated and hammered, which shrinks the metal tighter as steel becomes harder.
After creating the correct shape through metal forming, we take it to another crucial step known as machining. This is called machining, and it occurs when we are going to properly clean the surface of the metal in order to make it smooth enough. This is a crucial step as this will not only make the parts look beautiful but it will also ensure that they fit together perfectly. When these two methods (forging and machining) are used together, we can make parts that are strong aswell as stunning.
While locking in the properties needed to make parts strong and able to withstand wear is often what forging and machining end up being associated with, they can also be used to design beautiful pieces. For this, we use CAD, a computer program; that is, CAD means Computer-Aided Design. Thanks to CAD we can create really advanced parts that have the exact shape and dimensions. This technology makes it possible to produce photorealistic visualizations of our designs long before we actually begin working on them.
Swords Precision uses CNC machines to shape the metal with state of the art technology. CNC means Computer Numerical Control, and these machines are capable of making extremely intricate cuts that would be difficult to achieve by hand. This is extremely crucial because this helps us manufacture parts with extreme precision and accuracy. These machines ensure that every part fits perfectly, which is quite important for producing quality goods when we use them.
Machining is the control removal of material from a metal part to size in an appropriate manner. We have plenty of machining methods to choose from — such as turning, milling, drilling and grinding — depending on the desired results. Advantages/ Disadvantages of Conventional Machining: Each technique has its own concept and advantages/disadvantages; some techniques perform better for certain materials than others.
At Swords Precision, whether we are using CNC milling or another machining practice will depend on the part type. For example, if the required part is round in nature, we can use turning. Milling would be the appropriate application if a flat surface is required. Drilling, for example, is used to create a hole in the metal while grinding is used when we need to smoothen out or cut excess material. Knowing which method to use is crucial to achieve desired outcomes.
With rapid technological advancements, the most common methods we use in forging and machining becomes better. Here at Swords Precision, we are constantly striving for new and creative methods to manufacture even stronger, more precise components. One such recent innovation is called additive manufacturing, or what we know as 3D printing. We are printing parts by this new method of well-known additive manufacturing, and nope this is not some machining that removes material. It saves time and reduces waste, which is better for the environment.
