Project Background
In March of this year, an automation equipment integrator approached us to machine a large frame component for an automation system. The part required:
- Dimensions: 1800×1200×500mm
- Material: Q235 steel plate, welded and machined
- Flatness: 0.05mm/1000mm
- Positional tolerance: ±0.1mm
- Delivery: Required within 15 days
Customer's Challenges
This large workpiece required equipment that many machining shops didn’t have. Additionally, after welding, the part had internal stress and was prone to deformation. The customer’s project timeline was urgent, and several suppliers declined the order.
Our Solution
We had the perfect equipment: a 1.5m×3m gantry machining center. Our solution involved:
- Tempering: To relieve internal stress after welding.
- Rough machining: To prepare the part.
- Aging treatment: To further reduce deformation.
- Precision finishing: To ensure high dimensional accuracy.
We used laser alignment to ensure accurate hole placement and employed CMM for post-machining measurements of critical dimensions.
